Xbox One is a wireless controller, true, but instead of Bluetooth, it implements Microsoft’s own proprietary wireless connectivity system. Some controller. Jul 02, 2019  The good news is that you can also use an Xbox One controller with a Mac. The (somewhat) bad news is that, unlike the plug-and-play and wireless nature of the PS4 controller, the Xbox Controller requires some third-party drivers and configuration to work in OS X, and will only work while connected via a USB cable. Will Playing Games Overheat My Mac Computer

I just got the game today and within five minutes of entering cas it crashed due to overheating. Learned quickly that I did not have vsync on to help keep it at a more calm level. I loaded up again after letting my laptop cool off and played for a while. My computer was still getting quite warm while playing, but the FPS level was around 60 the entire time so it didn't seem to serious. However I noticed the back of my laptop was extremely warm and so was the left side, but the rest was cool, which I found strange. I play with a cooling pad and keep my laptop on my desk while playing so I am unsure why it is so hot. It even smelled hot, not like a burning smell but like a radiating heat smell. Its concerning because last time I played TS3 it crashed from overheating, which it has maybe done three times total since I got this laptop two years ago. I have a two graphics card and this one is only used for more high end stuff. Its a Gefore GT 525M if that is needed. I'm just unsure what to do because I kept having to stop playing to let my laptop cool off. Also my fan was running the entire time on full power. Are the heat and fans problems?
The game itself is running fine though. Fast loading screens, no lag at all. Very smooth gameplay on medium/some low settings.
Please help me figure this out. I don't want to fry my card.

  • Jul 23, 2018 Running the game from admin account instead of standard account is one of the useful ways to stop games crashing on Mac. Most of the time, the game is launched from the standard account. So when you are running the game from a standard account and facing this game crashing issue, try to run it from admin account and check if the problem is fixed.

  • First of all, make sure that your fan vents are not blocked when you play. For example, don't play in bed where your comforter can block the vents. A cooling pad will also help keep your Mac cool. Since I do not own a laptop, I cannot recommend one, but you can find one on most computer websites or on Amazon.

  • @Tremayne4260 I always play with my computer on top of a pillow, so there is nothing like a comforter that could block them, but I'll look into the cooling pads

What??? The heat dissipates through the bottom of your Mac and through the vent below the screen, as Tremayne has explained. You're killing your Mac, have you never noticed how hot it gets? At least put it on a flat surface if you don't have a cooling pad or something to elevate it.

  • I agree with what others have said about a flat surface. If you have an oversized book, you can use that at least temporarily. Also, you can quit all other programs when playing. I used to keep other windows open and surf the web while Sims 4 was loading. When my MacBook started making the fan sound you mention (perhaps because I got more packs), I stopped using other programs while playing.

@jamiehood The pillow is the same as gaming or using your laptop on a comforter . You need a hard surface
I see you posted this back at the end of January but this may help others if you no longer need help. Cooler master and thermaltake make some good laptop coolers. There maybe other laptop coolers specific for Mac though I have never checked. I would look at laptop coolers with good reviews on Amazon or computer store webs
  • I've gotten a cooling fan, and it's actually worked quite well. I don't use a pillow anymore, and I quite like it. So I'm pretty much good for now! If the issue comes up again, I will reach out through this thread.
