Bootcamp For Mac Gaming

Hi all


Feb 04, 2020  Apple MacBooks have never been designed to perform solely as gaming laptops. Despite this, some models are better than others for this type of use. Our favorite current model, the 16-inch MacBook Pro (2019) i7 processor, includes numerous features that make it a terrific device for casual gamers.

Recently I have had problems when using my BootCamp partition for gaming. Essentially, the laptop runs too hot and as a result the GPU throttles to prevent overheating, causing intermittent FPS drops to occur which as you may expect mess up the entire pace of the game. This has only begun to happen within the past few months - I have had many months of trouble-free gaming previously on the exact same setup. The fans are running at maximum and core temps tend to be in the 80s, so no luck there. As I have currently tried:


Resetting SMC

Deleting partition and reinstalling Windows

I've turned off Windows mouse acceleration, tried V-Sync and no V-Sync with frames limited and unlimited in CS:GO, and tried turning off raw mouse input in CS:GO.I also tried changing the polling rate of my mouse (G700) to 125, 250, 500 and 1000 which led to no change. This hasn't happened on my old system and It's also not happneing on my Mac with the same mouse. Mouse lag only in games mac on certain mouse. I have the latest Nvidia drivers (347.09). Frankly, I'm kinda lost.

Downloading a fan control app to try and regulate fan speed

Turn off/on Vysnc

Install firmware update for external display

Changing power settings

Changing settings within Nvidia Control Panel

Boot Camp For Mac Gaming Windows 10

Uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, rolling back drivers, reinstall BootCamp drivers

Steinberg DAC to Genelec 8010 Monitor Speakers

As previously said, nothing in my setup has changed and this problem has only recently occurred. I am unsure why the fans cannot keep the temperature down all of a sudden.


Some help would be great.
